KNOW YOUR BOND TERMINOLOGY

Investors who have a diversified portfolio include both equity and debt instruments in their holdings.  It is important to understand the language of investments to keep abreast of one's holdings.  Even if you don't invest in bonds directly, you may have bonds in your mutual funds.  The terms you learned here will help you make better sense of the bonds in your portfolio.

This tutorial includes many of the most commonly used bond terms. There are several more, particularly those that would fit into the "Other Bond Terms" section.  Since we cannot cover all of them in one tutorial, we suggest consulting a comprehensive glossary on bond terms to learn more.
