Joe Saari and Ed Harris formed Precision Information in 1998.
The company's early years were characterized by its founders working
late into the night, fervently pursuing the dream of using software
technology to help people learn the basics of successful investing.
Joe and Ed created the company's first products working out of
a makeshift office in the basement of Joe's home. An old computer
and a piecemeal desk became the company's headquarters.
PI
has grown a lot since then. The company now employs a team of
talented writers, editors, programmers, marketing and sales specialists,
and personal finance professionals to build its market-leading
products. The company's first major milestone was in September
1999, when Ameritrade (http://www.ameritrade.com) chose Precision
Information to provide the educational content for its online
education center. Since then, PI went on to develop The Encyclopedia
of Personal Finance, a popular interactive software product,
and has secured market-leading clients like Intuit, New York Life,
Morningstar, DST Output, and Bob Brinker's Money Talk.
PI
was founded with the intent of fundamentally improving the way
people learn to invest. Four years later, the company's management
team is vigorously pursuing that goal. To date, the company has
helped over 1,000,000 individuals learn about personal finance
and investing with its popular interactive financial education
tools.
Co-Founders
Joe Saari and Ed Harris provide the vision, leadership, and managerial
talent to guide the company. Ed is an experienced software entrepreneur
with nearly 40 years in the software industry. Prior to working
with PI, Ed co-founded Persoft Inc. in 1982, which was one of
the 100 largest software companies in the US from 1983 through
its sale in 1996. Joe is a Registered Investment Advisor with
an MBA in finance who was recently selected to serve on the Governor's
Task Force for Financial Education in the State of Wisconsin.
Other
key members of the PI team include: Director of Sales, Dave Snodgrass,
VP of Educational Services, Dennis Filangeri (CFP), and
lead programmers Jeff Horn and Aaron Berken.
Precision
Information also benefits from the insights and seasoned leadership
of a talented board of directors and other key advisors, including
Mark Laufman, a Managing Director of Robert W. Baird & Co.,
Inc.; Randy Pitzer, Senior Vice President and Deputy General Manager
of Edelman Technology Practice in Chicago; Jane Boutelle, who
served as the product manager for the team that launched Intuit's
market-leading QuickBooks accounting package; and Larry Landweber,
the former chair of the Department of Computer Science at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Precision
Information offers a comprehensive suite of educational tools
for financial service firms and the individual investors they
serve. The company's flagship product, The Encyclopedia of Personal
Finance, is the most comprehensive resource available of
engaging, accurate, unbiased, and easy-to-understand financial
information for investors. The product's proprietary database
structure provides investors with an intuitive, easy-to-use interface
that grants them instant access to thousands of definitions, articles,
tutorials, quizzes, and recommended resources about personal finance
and investing. Precision Information also offers brandable e-newsletters
and built-to-order Web sites.
Saari
and Harris say they were inspired to create Precision Information
because of the lack of comprehensive, objective, and easy-to-use
information resources for investors. "There is a lot of information
out there, but it is spread out all over the place. What's more,
much of it is either too complex for most investors to understand,
or it is colored by somebody's personal opinions or biases,"
Saari says. "Our comprehensive, easy-to-use financial education
tools are filling a significant market void," explains Harris.
Now
in a dynamic and exciting stage of its development, Precision
Information is expanding its marketing and sales efforts by forming
distribution partnerships and strategic alliances with market-leading
companies that serve similar products or services to its target
market. To learn more about Precision Information or The Encyclopedia
of Personal Finance, visit http://www.precision-info.com.
